Who We Are

Rescue Express is a national initiative of the MGM Animal Foundation; a dedicated 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, established in 2000 with a focus on animal welfare. We are driven by our compassion to help animals find loving forever homes and a brighter future that they deserve. With the commitment of our Founder, Mike McCarthy, and kind contributions from the general public, Rescue Express has been giving animals their "freedom ride" since February of 2015.

What We Do

Rescue Express started with one bus and has grown to a fleet of twelve buses, several vans, and a tractor trailer that have been converted and outfitted to safely and humanely transport dogs and cats to their forever homes. With the help of our rescue partners, we have saved over 20,000 animals and counting!

Relocation means opportunity. Rescue Express transport services are provided free of charge to our rescue partners. We rely on the generous support from our founder and donors like you in order to continue to offer this free, life-saving service. Together we can make a difference and give these animals loving homes. Please support our mission and donate here.

How We Operate

Rescue Express operates in many ways:

Monthly trips are available for partners to send animals on our bus from San Fernando, CA that runs up to the Washington and Canadian border. We are expanding more runs along the East Coast.

Rescue partners lease our buses free of charge and operate their own monthly trips north carrying 100+ animals to receiving partners that find their forever homes.

Our buses are available to help rescue organizations and humane societies with natural disaster relief to bring pets to safety, relocate, and reunite them with their owners.

Our buses and vans are used as spay/neuter mobile clinics in Mexico with our rescue partners.

Stay tuned!

Rescue Express will be adding new routes throughout the US as the demand grows for our rescue transports. Want to be a rescue partner? We are looking for shelters, rescue groups, or passionate individuals that would like to bring the Rescue Express lifesaving transport program to their part of the country.

We are working to reduce the number of animals needing relocation with innovative, multi-prong initiatives including: support for low cost and mandatory spay/neuter initiatives and lobbying for improved local animal regulations and enforcement.
